History

Developed by Sifton Properties Limited, RiverBend began as a dream for Mowbray Sifton over 50 years ago. He envisioned a community submerged in nature and designed for the golf enthusiast, with carefree new homes and the finest amenities for people approaching retirement who wanted to continue to live an active lifestyle. With the help of his sons, Mowbray’s dream has become a reality – and one of southwestern Ontario’s most desired addresses.

Since its inception, the preservation of the community’s natural surroundings and wildlife has been top priority. In 2006, RiverBend Golf Community achieved designation as a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary by the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program, an award winning education and certification program that helps golf courses protect our environment and preserve the natural heritage of the game of golf. To reach certification, a course must demonstrate that they are maintaining a high degree of environmental quality in a number of areas including: environmental planning, wildlife and habitat management, outreach and education, chemical use reduction and safety, water conservation and water quality management. At the time, RiverBend was the 2nd course in London to receive this designation, and one of 42 in Ontario.

RiverBend Golf Community is also a participant of the Audubon Partners for the Environment program which engages people from all walks of life in protecting and enhancing the land, water, wildlife and natural resources around them.

The Owners’ Council

The Owners' Council consists of RiverBend residents who work together to best represent the interests of their fellow RiverBend Golf Community residents. In a community of this size, there are always new ideas being discussed amongst homeowners to maintain and enhance the RiverBend lifestyle. The Council acts as the voice of RiverBend residents, meeting monthly with the management team to discuss areas of concern and present resident ideas and opinions.
