Sifton Properties Limited named 2008 Green Home Builder by TRY Recycling Inc.

On January 24, 2009 Sifton Properties Limited was honoured to receive the 2008 Green Home Builder award presented by TRY Recycling Inc. at the 2009 Lifestyle Home Show.

TRY Recycling Inc., in association with the London Home Builder’s Association (LHBA), developed the Building Green Awards to recognize LHBA member companies for their efforts in ensuring environmentally sound projects. With a primary focus on waste management, participants were judged on the implementation of waste reduction programs, quantifiable waste diversion from area landfills and education of staff and customers on green initiatives. Participants were also judged on overall energy efficiency and the use of “green” products and processes in the construction of their homes, as well as their community involvement.

Sifton Properties has made a commitment to reducing and recycling waste generated during the construction of all homes. In 2008, approximately 588 tons of waste was diverted from landfill sites and sent to recycling facilities. In addition to waste management programs, many building materials are chosen for their recycled content.

All Sifton Properties homes are ENERGY STAR^® qualified and an in-house “green” committee has been developed to identify and implement various strategies and practices that will reduce both energy and water consumption in Sifton homes.
