The team at RiverBend Golf Community is dedicated to preserving the community’s natural surroundings and wildlife habitats. Through special community projects, the guidance of a highly educated and trained Grounds team, and simple day-to-day energy and waste reduction efforts, we have the unique opportunity to work together as a team in an effort to leave the earth a better place than we found it.
RiverBend Golf Community has achieved designation as a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary by the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program (ACSP), an award winning education and certification program that helps golf courses protect our environment and preserve the natural heritage of the game of golf.
Six steps must be achieved to receive this certification:
RiverBend Golf Community is also a participant of the Audubon Partners for the Environment program which engages people from all walks of life in protecting and enhancing the land, water, wildlife and natural resources around them. As a participant, RiverBend is committed to completing a minimum of one project per year in the following categories:
Wildlife
Projects in this category involve attracting and monitoring birds, gardening with wildlife in mind and creating and maintaining wildlife habitats.
Water
Given our proximity to the historic Thames River, water conservation is a priority. We follow strict guidelines set out by the municipality and the Ministry of Natural Resources to ensure our water resources will be available for generations to come.
Education
Projects include trail guides and environmental displays.
Eco-Efficiency
Together, the Grounds Department, Clubhouse, ProShop, Housing Division and community residents can make a difference by reducing our waste, recycling appropriately and respecting our surroundings.
Community/Sustainability
Projects include the Annual Thames River Clean Up.
